This is that song.
The Nextdoors - #MeetTheMayor Neighbor Day Reel Highlights
The Nextdoors decided to use our "week of fame" while on the cover of the Pasadena Weekly to try meeting the Mayor of Pasadena and getting him to declare their Neighbor Day show Jan 15 2023 as the official Neighbor Day for all of Pasadena.
The Nextdoors find humor in social media. Pasadena Weekly Feature
Our conversation with Pasadena Weekly’s Christina Fuoco-Karasinski in on the news shelves now! But for those who don’t live near Pasadena, you can read it online.
We are The Nextdoors. Welcome to our place. We’re a wife-and-husband duo out of Pasadena, CA and our cello-soaked Americana debut album Linda Vista, recorded at home over the pandemic, is available for purchase and streaming everywhere.
Our songs have garnered radio play across the country in the past year, including a #1 song, our leadoff single “Awaken”, at WBSD in Wisconsin.
COVID meant only online and backyard shows for us until 2023, when we played our first public show to a packed house at Wild Parrot Brewery, an event we called Neighbor Day - which drew out Pasadena’s Mayor Victor Gordo and all his staff - he introduced our set, and later declared that “The Nextdoors are one of the true gems of the city.”
Please take a look around, and check out our album - named after Russell’s sister Linda Wiener, who we lost to cancer in 2020. She was one of our biggest supporters, and in fact she drew the flowers and bugs on our album art and website.
More about us:
We’ve been playing music together since the minute we met. We even played on stage together at our wedding. We had an idea years ago to write songs based on the most eye-rolling, melodramatic posts on Nextdoor.com. Thus, we named our duo The Nextdoors. But when we were isolated from our other bands during COVID we slowly started recording an album of "regular" original songs… and this is that album! But our song “Honest Mechanic Got Bad” is our first foray into our original concept ;)
